ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN, October 5, 2006 - - www.buyblueprints.com announces the launch of a new online selling resource for architects to gain wider markets and earn added income.  Buyblueprints (BBP) is looking for all types of commercial and some selected residential plans.

The process of selling blueprints via BBP is straightforward, however since it is a new method of selling plans, there might be questions. Some of the most common ones are:

1. In what formats does BBP sell plans?  Plan-sets and modifiable AutoCAD or DataCAD files.

2. What is included in a plan-set?  A perspective drawing or photo, elevations, floor plans, reflected ceiling plan, roof plan, interior elevation, building section, wall sections, details.  (If available, engineering drawings may be included for an additional price.)

3. What about Copyright?  When you list a plan to sell on BBP you assign a right of Copyright to BBP for the length of the contract.

4. What about liability?  When a building is constructed from a BBP prototype plan, the liability shifts to the architect who seals the drawings.

5. How much money could I make selling plans online?  Plan prices average from $3,000 to $15,000 per plan.  The sale price is split 50/50.  If five of your plans sold in one year, you could earn between $7,500 and $35,000.  If ten plans sold, between $15,000 and $70,000.

6. What size buildings are you looking for?  In general new buildings with a construction value between $1 million and $10 million.

7. What building types are you looking for?  All types of commercial buildings and specialty residential.

8. Can I work with purchasers to modify my own drawings?  Yes.   

9. How do I get started?

■          Call BBP and let us know you are interested.

■          Email a photo, rendering or elevation drawing and floor plan of your project or projects.

■          BBP will respond quickly to let you know if your plans are appropriate for the website.

■          Then you put your plans into the appropriate format.  We estimate it will take about two hours to format the drawings for sale.  A sample set is on the website.

■          BBP will email you an Architect Agreement contract for you to sign specifying the length of time (renewable) the plan will be listed on the website and the price it will sell for.

Because BBP is a new online service, it is looking to build an inventory of plans in each project type and is open to project types not listed on the website.  Currently plans are listed at no charge, however after a total of ten projects in each particular project type is reached, there will be a $200 processing fee for the length of each contract.  The first ten architects in each project type will earn lifetime free listings.  To be first, log on to www.buyblueprints.com and email us or call 734-662-4015.

All architectural projects are not suitable for prototype plans so BBP has done the screening for you – our plans are suitable.  In general, buildings that should not use prototype designs are: those located on difficult sites, large projects, or projects with complex uses. Buyblueprints plans work for developers, design/builders and entrepreneurs for whom budget and function are driving forces.  However, because plans are solicited from top designers, BBP gets the best designs too; designs that are affordable and save you money.
